When using your ID card, bank card, etc., the system recognizes your age. For example, if you are over 60 years old, the machine automatically calculates a free ticket for senior citizens.

Just one more thing—the reason your bus ride is free is that the city government is fully subsidizing it. So, tapping your card is simply how they track passenger numbers accurately to fund and operate the service

for example the bus company takes 10k/ person. ho chi minh council will pay that 10k so they have to know how many money they will pay.
