As a 17 almost 18 year old I’ve had my period since I was 12 it’s been almost 6 years of my period never, not once being regular. They are extremely heavy, last for weeks on end or only 2 days, I’ve gone months without a period, and I’ve had 2 in one month, along with other issues. It is just now that (paired with other medical issues) a doctor has started to take my concerns seriously. She acted like it was an amazing connection she was making that my period issues could prove something is wrong with me. NOT LIKE IVE BEEN SAYING FOR YEARS THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH ME!! They’ve always told me “it’s normal. Wait and see if it fixes itself.” I have never been to the obgyn bc they said I was “too young.” It’s absolutely ridiculous that no one takes women’s concerns seriously and you are never too young to be seen about concerns!

I learnt yesterday that the heat can cause missed periods or double periods, which with the recent heatwaves would make sense for a lot of you ladies that are struggling with the regularity of your periods at the moment!

When you were underweight did your periods stop? When I was in my early twenties I was seriously underweight (ED) and mine disappeared for a nearly two years. I went to the doctor and he said “are you trying to conceive?” I said no and he said “then don’t worry about it”. 😳

As a 39-year-old woman who is also overweight I have been fighting medical issues for almost 3 years now without proper diagnosis. I’ve been told to lose weight so I did my symptoms got worse. I was told recently they might be in my head. I really really despise the way. The medical community looks at women.

I had a hysterectomy after fighting for one for three years after a female gp referred me to gynae due to my heavy bleeding and awful pain. My female gp helped me get sorted and for that I will be forever grateful

I’ve not had a period since I started… I was 15 when I started, I’m now 23… I believe me being in fight or flight constantly just stopped my period… 😅

my periods have started getting worse as a 15 year old girl since I had a bad accident a year and a bit a go, and it got messed up because of the medication I was on and stress too! my mum is going to try and get me on the pill thankfully, but ive been looking into the side effects, and it does make me wonder how we have all this medical knowledge and equipment, and the pill is the best we can come up with? really? It's embarrassing, and im quite scared tbh 😅. I hope you get seen to quickly and get the help you deserve 💗

I’m 27 and it’s taken 10 years for me to be diagnosed with Endometriosis, PCOS and told I need surgery and told last year because of how long I’ve been untreated I’m very likely to have endometrial cancer in the next 3 to 5 years

I could tell you the ins and outs of so many subjects but the one subject ( which is the most important one ) that I can’t speak confidently on is my own body. I have no idea which symptoms mean what, I have no clue about my ‘cycle’ or what is average for my body to be doing. I don’t know about my hormones, my body clock, my patterns, my tracking. Nothing! Schools should be teaching that. I don’t have parents to educate me, and the internet can be quite overwhelming and often incorrect. The anxiety and panic I suffer from often cause physical symptoms but because it’s the unknown for me, every time I end up feeling like I’m dying because I have little knowledge to reassure me xxx
