{Should I make a version in Ukrainian?} Small notes: • This is an overview. To keep the slides concise, some complex historical/ethnographic topics were simplified. • Maps show only the parts of each traditional homeland within present-day Ukraine, with approximate core areas, not precise historical/modern boundaries. Some communities historically lived across what are now the borders of other countries: Poland, Slovakia, Romania, Moldova, Belarus, etc. • Not all people living in the mentioned regions are of the local ancestry, nor do surnames give an exact identification of who a person is ethnically. • Population figures are based primarily on the 2001 Ukrainian census, the last one of this scale conducted in Ukraine. They reflect self-identification, not ancestry, and often underestimate the number of people with actual heritage from these communities. • Character designs are my modern reinterpretations inspired by traditional regional clothing, embroidery, colours, and accessories. They are NOT historical costume reconstructions at all. • Ethnographic classifications are not universally standardized. I followed the ones commonly used in Ukrainian ethnographic and historical scholarship. • Stereotypes are labeled stereotypes for a reason - they are highly subjective. • The aim is to celebrate the cultural diversity of Ukraine and encourage further exploration of each community's history and traditions 💙💛 #ukraine #ukrainianculture #українатікток #гуцули #ethnic
