How it took me this long to visit this bakery, I’ll never know... but it was 100% worth the wait. Every single thing that was brought to the table was incredible. Starting with what they’re best known for, the Pastel de Nata. These Portuguese tarts were perfectly flaky on the outside with the creamiest, silkiest custard filling that was warm, rich and just melted in your mouth. No wonder they’re famous for them. They absolutely lived up to the hype. The Twice Baked Croissants were another standout. We tried the Apple Walnut and Nutella, and because they’re twice baked, they were incredibly crispy on the outside while still being buttery and soft on the inside. The Brioche Doughnuts… phwoar. They were a little messy in the best possible way, generously filled to the point where the filling was literally spilling out. We tried the Nutella, the house-made Raspberry Jam and the Crème Pâtissière. I’m usually not a cream or custard person, but WOW! It was silky, smooth and rich without feeling too heavy, and the house-made Raspberry Jam was just as incredible. We also tried a couple of their other Portuguese pastries, including the Mimo and Pata de Veado, and both were absolutely delicious. It’s the kind of bakery where every visit gives you something new to discover. As a savoury girl though, the Sausage Roll and pie had to be my absolute favourites. The sausage roll was one of the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly flaky pastry, a beautifully seasoned filling with a subtle spicy kick, and just so damn good. The pie was pure comfort food. Normally I’d reach for sauce or gravy with a pie like that, but honestly, it didn’t need a thing. What impressed me most is that nothing relies on looking pretty for socials. Yes, everything is absolutely beautiful, but more importantly, it actually tastes just as good as it looks.
