UK: Major move by Rochdale Council, resolution passed in support of Kashmiris The Rochdale Council in the UK passed a resolution on the evening of July 16, 2026, regarding the current situation in Pakistan-administered Jammu & Kashmir. The resolution was moved by Liberal Democrat Councillor Mohammed Khizar, representing Falinge, Belfield, and Smallbridge. The resolution demands that the Rochdale Council write to the British government, urging the Foreign Office and the incoming Prime Minister to initiate immediate negotiations with the governments of Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Jammu & Kashmir to take effective measures to resolve the humanitarian crisis that has been ongoing for the past forty days. The resolution was supported by other political parties during the session, while the Reform and Conservative parties did not support it.
