From 1 July 2026, the Visa Application Charge for most Partner Visa applicants increased to AUD $11,710. And that is generally only the government application charge. Depending on your circumstances, you may still need to pay separately for medical examinations, police checks, document translations and professional assistance. Now here is the serious part beneath the joke: paying the application charge does not guarantee that the visa will be granted. The Department of Home Affairs must still be satisfied that the applicant meets the relevant legal requirements and that the relationship is genuine and continuing. This usually requires clear, consistent and properly organised evidence addressing matters such as: ❤️ Your financial arrangements 🏠 How you manage your household 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 How other people recognise your relationship 💍 The nature of your long-term commitment to each other Evidence may include joint bank statements, shared bills, lease documents, travel records, photographs, messages, insurance policies, beneficiary nominations and supporting statements from family and friends. A weak, inconsistent or poorly prepared application could place $11,710 at risk. And after losing that amount, the relationship itself might suddenly require its own counselling session. 😅 Because the application charge is significant and generally non-refundable where an application is refused or withdrawn, applicants should take the process seriously. Where the circumstances are complicated or there are concerns about the available evidence, consider obtaining advice from a Registered Migration Agent or an Australian immigration lawyer before lodging.
