Cathy :
1. And it came to pass, when the wallet was empty and payday was yet afar off, that Garri remembered his people.
2. For he saith not, “Bring unto me great treasure,” but only, “Fetch me water, and I shall comfort thee.”
3. Blessed is the man whose cupboard containeth Garri, for he shall not lie down hungry.
4. Cursed is the vessel that is found empty in the hour of need, for great shall be the lamentation thereof.
5. Lo, Garri respecteth not the rich more than the poor, but ministereth unto all with an equal hand.
6. Though rice be exhausted, and bread be no more, yet Garri remaineth steadfast and faileth not.
7. Yea, though inflation walketh through the land, Garri still whispereth, “Fear not; I am with thee.”
8. With milk is he glorious; with sugar is he delightful; with groundnut is he perfected; yet with water alone is he still sufficient.
9. And the students lifted up their bowls with gladness, saying, “Surely this day we shall survive.”
10. The hostel rejoiced, the marketplace was at peace, and every kettle fulfilled its purpose.
11. The neighbours perceived the sound of stirring, and they knew that hope had entered the house.
12. The hungry cried, and Garri answered them speedily.
13. Neither did he require long preparation, nor fire in abundance, for his mercy was swift.
14. The spoon and the bowl bore witness together, saying, “Faithful is Garri in all his ways.”
15. And the people were filled, and they rested from their complaints for a season.
16. Therefore let no man despise the humble Garri, for many have been rescued by its hand when all other foods had departed.
