I’m so sick of Airlines pulling this crap. I’ve heard you can legally request up to 4x your ticket price for delays like this. Check into that and let us know

American Airlines is garbage. I flew last month as a chaperone on a school trip to the Galápagos Islands. We had 3 layovers. First flight was delayed 7 hrs due to lack of crew rest (within the airlines control). This affected every other flight. The best they could do for us was get us to our destination 2 days later. They did not mention hotels and suggested we sleep two nights in the airport. The solution they worked on for hours, that they told us would get us to our destination faster, was getting us to Colombia. With no way to Ecuador. Mind you, my coworker and I were traveling with over a dozen 17 year olds. It was not until we got incredibly demanding/slightly angry with the manager that any hotels were offered and they REALLY did not want to comp them. I understand that delays happen and we were a large group, but the lack of communication and helpfulness was astounding. American Airlines was the most inept, unhelpful company I’ve ever dealt with.
