Have you looked at period pants? They are literally washable pants, that are basically a sanitary towel. They don’t tend to be styled for women, just a standard pant/brief.

panty liners are crap. they are more for if you have a tiny bladder leak or dribble. definitely go for sanitary towels instead. but honestly I'd temporarily go for mens pull ups. yea its weird but good for leaks and definitely more comfortable, less chafing and won't show through trousers etc

As a fellow perianal abscess victim 😅 I use washable period pads for inside the underwear daily and puppy pads when I'm sat/laid down anywhere at home. I hope this helps. Also if you speak to your gp they will be able to help you get hold of suitable padding/underwear to use.

if the disposable pads are irritating you could try reusable pads which are more comfortable and dont have chemical scents and sticky parts

I’d recommend some period underwear, you can get them online or in primark too! Just rinse after use and chuck in the washing machine. If that’s not your vibe definitely try maternity towels as they are way more absorbing

Honestly, bin the sanitary pads off and go for the non woven gauze off Amazon. No irritating or sweating with gauze, and £4 for 200x 2ply squares, so it’s a lot cheaper too.

Well done you for being so honest and open about your issues.Have you tried putting a little feminine talc onto the part that doesn't come into contact with your abscess hole. Superdrug and boots sell it. It will just help alleviate the wetness especially now it's so warm. Good luck in finding the right pad for you. 💜

Have you tried period underwear? You can get ones that you throw away or washable ones. The washable ones are just like wearing normal underwear

try to not get the plastic ones - always infinity are kinda like memory foam or flo which is bamboo. they are far more comfortable than the plastic ones

Washable sanitary towels might be a shout from a money aspect/eco friendly aspect. I’ve used them and liked them, no sticky bits, less rubbing and generally a bit gentler.
