i cut off a piece of my finger while opening a defect can. I drive myself to the hospital as wife had to stay with our sleeping toddler at home. Long story short they send me back after making sure I am not bleeding anymore. I wake up soaked in blood, now I don't feel I can drive anymore, wife still has to stay at home, it's 4 AM. I call ambulance, it's Rotes Kreuz that comes, they take me but warn me that insurance could not cover it. 6 months later I receive a 10 EUR bill from my insurance. So there you go. I think it cost them more to print this out and send but okay.

Not really. My head was swollen and my bf called the ambulance and they came and checked me and asked me if I wanna go to the hospital with them and I said no. I was never charged of anything!

Love the intense debate here! it up using German Law (§ 60 SGB V). › Let's clear You only pay the €10 co-payment (like @mikebravofox65 did) IF the ride is a 'medical necessity'. The dispatcher filter works on good faith, but if someone exaggerates symptoms just to get a faster ride for a mild flu, and paramedics arrive to find a non-emergency (Fehlfahrt), the Krankenkasse can legally refuse to pay. That's when the city bills you the full cost (€300-€800). The system is overwhelmed right now, which is why understanding the difference between 112 and 116 117 is so important!.
