Steak Night EVERY night this June! 🥩 The Central Club Hotel is a historic pub located right across from Queen Vic Market in North Melbourne. Established in 1869 and beautifully restored in 2023, the venue was once a depot for Melbourne’s horse drawn taxis! They’ve reused original materials, turning old timber into tables and old keg chutes into serving boards. There’s also hotel rooms upstairs if you want to stay the night. Owner and publican Vincent Magrath previously worked in wine distribution and the drinks list reflects that with a focus on Australian wines, independent beers and classic cocktails. We tried the Coates Reserve Syrah 2019 - apparently only 300 bottles exist in Australia and they have 24! Since our last visit, the kitchen is now under Chef Michael Scott, with a menu focused on share style entrees and elevated pub classics using market produce. You’ll find pastas, parmas, plenty of steak and rotating weekly specials. We visited for their June

We visited for their June "Month of Steak Nights"! Every night you can get a $27 Porterhouse or a $55 Eye Fillet + glass of house wine. Both come with cos salad, rosti chips and your choice of sauce. The rosti chips are incredible! ✔️ Kingfish Ceviche - so generous. Nice fresh flavours and I loved the combination, I just would’ve preferred the fish sliced thinner so it held together better on the crackers. ✔️ Duck Raviolo - no longer house made however I actually enjoyed this version more than my last visit. The jus reduction sauce was delicious. ✔️ O’Connor Porterhouse - so tender and honestly not a huge difference between this and the eye fillet. ✔️ O’Connor Eye Fillet - incredibly tender. Slightly more crust which I preferred and both steaks were cooked and rested perfectly. ➖ Roasted Cauliflower - tasty but I wanted more char. ✔️ Sticky Date Pudding - super moist. ➖ Apple Crumble - needed more sauce or a richer buttery crumble. Such a warm, friendly pub with a nice feel for any occasion. Always busy so I’d recommend booking. We also saw their Pints & Ponytails session happening - a Thursday workshop teaching dads how to do their daughters’ hair which was such a wholesome touch. Paid Invite
