Ive watched these birds for years being a boater in southern ontario on the Detroit River. They flock by the thousands in trees by water ways to nest and fish. They can dive under water and pop up a distance away.

The herons are huge! Their wing spans are enormous my son found a 💀 one on the road and carried it home and held its wings out!

There is an island in lake Diefenbaker in SK that’s full of them too. It’s so cool

I hope they don’t settle on your lake. They took over a small rock island on Lake Couchiching and killed everything on it. They have a negative affect on any land or lake they settle on.
