Was Jesus born on 25 December? You may have believed this since childhood. But the Bible never tells us the exact date on which Jesus was born. So 25 December is not recorded in the Bible as the date of Jesus’ birth. Then why do Christians around the world commemorate the birth of Jesus on this day every year? Actually, there is something even more important to think about than the question of the exact date: Why did Jesus come into this world? The Bible tells us that He did not come simply to give people another holiday. He came to be our Saviour. The angel declared: “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.” Luke 2:11 KJV, So what truly deserves our attention is not whether Christmas Day is the actual birthday of Jesus. The real question is: Do we truly understand the meaning of His birth? Do we truly know the Christ who came into this world? Many people celebrate Christmas every year, buy gifts, decorate their homes, and attend gatherings, but rarely stop to seriously ask: Do I truly believe in Jesus? Has His coming changed my life? Do I listen to His words? Am I willing to repent? Am I willing to follow Him? Because knowing that Jesus was born in Bethlehem does not mean that someone truly knows Christ. What truly matters is not whether you remember 25 December. It is whether Christ has truly become the Lord of your life. So this Christmas, do not only celebrate a holiday. Stop and ask yourself: Am I simply celebrating Christmas, or am I truly following Christ? If this message has reminded you, write in the comments: “Lord Jesus, I want to know You more deeply.” And share this with someone who needs to think seriously about their faith again.
