I wouldn’t travel to the Philippines on your own as a solo female. Sex trafficking is very high in The Philippines. If you ever go, just be so careful! I’m sure you already know that.

Girl I went to the same area (you’re south of Uppuveli right?) and was so uncomfortable - I got harassed by local men so much I had a panic attack. They aren’t used to girls in bikini’s there - which is why they have a tourist only beach at Fernando’s!! I spent 2 months travelling the rest of Sri Lanka and never had this experience again! Don’t beat yourself up - truly in 2 years of solo travel I’ve never felt as uncomfortable as I did where you are !! 🤍

My boyfriend and I have just been in Sri Lanka for almost 3 weeks and our favourite places were Ella, Yala (for safari!), Ahangama and Arugam Bay. The Philippines is our absolute favourite favourite country and the most beautiful place we have ever been so you have to go one day xx

Sri Lanka was my FAVORITE place! You def just need to go to the right areas. I spent the most time in Ella and the South Coast (Hiriketiya, Ahangama, Weligama, Mirissa).

Well I’m in Arugam bay right now …. I’m 50 and traveling with my kids 😂 but spent 2 days on the beach and it was a vibe , kids your age on the beach , girls eating lunch in their bikinis , hot HOT guys on the beach playing football …. Live music SOOOOO COOL ! You’ll love it ! Have fun

Sri Lanka is still a conservative country, we don’t wear bikinis at the beach like tourists do. I really encourage you do look up more tourist friendly places/beaches…if you know ur in a more rural area then I would highly suggest if you don’t see anyone else on the beach in a bikini then don’t go out like that. You comparing Sri Lanka to SEA countries is like apples to oranges like it’s not the same

I just visited Sri Lanka for a month and it was my favourite country I have been to. You need to go to Ella and then the south coast beach towns. Hikkaduwa is the most magical town - you can swim with sea turtles and the most colourful fish you’ve seen, and the coral reef is right on the beach. You will love it!

Go to midigama! It’s tiny but close enough to ahangama if you want to go out. But the beach days in Midigama are top tier. You HAVE to go to babas sunset cafe. He’s the most lovely man

Girl, I was there about a month ago and honestly I didn’t love it. I found it pretty boring and felt like there wasn’t much to do. I’d definitely recommend the Philippines instead! I absolutely loved it there. It has a lot of Thailand vibes, but it’s not as touristy yet, which makes it feel more authentic. The locals are honestly some of the sweetest people I’ve ever met—they’re so welcoming, always curious about what you’re doing, and genuinely want to help. It was such a special experience. 🩷
