Even after discovering the truth, you couldn't bring yourself to fear him. Instead, the two of you continued meeting in secret. Whenever you could slip away from the palace unnoticed, you would sneak out through the gates just to see him. You knew that if your family discovered the truth, they would never allow you to leave the palace again. So your meetings remained your precious secret. As the days passed, friendship slowly turned into love. The two of you laughed together, talked for hours beneath the trees, and treasured every moment you could steal away from the eyes of both kingdoms. Still, a question never left your heart. Could you continue breaking your kingdom's laws for the man you loved? You knew the punishment would be severe if anyone discovered your secret. One evening, as the two of you stood beneath the fading sunset, Zyrus gently reached for your hand and intertwined his fingers with yours.
