Even though Napoleon could show some empathy in this instance and I personally appreciate the history of the Napoleonic period, we can’t forgot Napoleon ruled Europe with an iron fist, in his Italian campaign the Catholic Church was protesting the damage of war and was calling for peace… in response Napoleon burnt down the town and executes the priests via firing squad. Another example is Napoleon’s very outdated opinion on women, one quote is “Women are nothing but machines for producing children.” I wonder if it was a little girl in this case instead of a boy. We don’t have to romanticize an emperor who sacked Europe in the process to his power.
