This is one of the most significant proposed changes to OINP in recent years, with the goal of creating a simpler, more flexible program that better responds to Ontario’s labour market needs. Here are the key announcements: ✅ A new Ontario Workforce Priority Stream is proposed to replace several existing streams in Phase 1. ✅ Two new pathways are expected: • TEER 0–3 • TEER 4–5 ✅ All TEER 4–5 occupations are expected to become eligible under the new pathway, significantly expanding opportunities for many workers. ✅ Applicants may be able to rely on related or compatible work experience, even if it is not an exact match to their Ontario job offer. ✅ The Expression of Interest (EOI) scoring system is expected to change, placing greater emphasis on: • Ontario work experience • Higher wages • Language proficiency • French-language ability • In-demand occupations • Regional labour market needs ✅ Ontario also plans to conduct more targeted invitation rounds based on occupation, language ability, and geographic location. ✅ The province is targeting an early August reopening, although no official reopening date has been confirmed. Looking ahead, Ontario also discussed Phase 2 proposals, which may include: 🩺 A Healthcare Stream without a job offer ⭐ An Exceptional Talent Stream 🚀 A new Entrepreneur Stream ⚠️ Important: These updates were shared during the stakeholder meeting and are subject to final implementation.
