There’s an even more easy & tighter solution. Do what you did at the start but instead of using the tight side use the ratchet end of the tails, make a loop & pull it through & it ties it off. Just like in this photo I found online. It’s a more secure way. Only one I’d ever use.

If you roll it up like that and then just feed it through the hole and then back through the hole you make it will stay like that when you undo the ratchet, that way you don’t need to wind it up every time you unload and reload
