@thaylefae: 🌾 Mother and Daughter 🌸 Made with watercolor, mulberry paper, tea bag paper, cardstock, gouache, chalk pastel, and colored pencil. In Greek mythology, Demeter is the goddess of the harvest, grain, and agriculture, and the mother of Persephone. Persephone’s yearly journey to and from the Underworld brings about the changing of the seasons, making their story one of love, grief, renewal, and the cycles of nature. For these pieces, I layered hand-painted papers with watercolor, gouache, and chalk pastel to create richly textured portraits inspired by these two goddesses.
