Bipolar has just made my life hard, it’s not a super power or anything. I get less done than people without bipolar

I have bipolar 2 and it’s genuinely debilitating and not some magic secret to success. I have mixed episodes and it’s like the worst feeling of my life and I almost attempted three times during it.

My dad used to say we had "genius brain". He never considered it a curse. I think I never thought of bipolar as a handicap because of him

I have bipolar and I get what you’re saying but I would rather be properly medicated than “benefit” from the highs of mania, kind of an irresponsible thing to say

This is so dangerous to say; you’re implying that medication and seeking help from mental health professionals is the wrong thing to do.

Bipolar 1 here but the “highs” are not always motivating or confidence that tortured genius trope when u think of Kanye it actually is disorganized thinking paranoia hallucinations derealization essentially “fight” response. Ur essentially a restless surge of excess energy not always in a productive way…

This is absolutely insane. I’m fully qualified to say this. Yes, there are high performing people who have bipolar disorder. It’s not really correlated with their success. If anything, it’s correlated with loss of friends, loss of jobs or opportunities due to hyper or hypo mania episodes (for people who aren’t very wealthy or have fantastic connections). Most people with bipolar have to be careful to balance lifestyle habits, any needed medications, and therapy so that they can do well and be happy. It is a HUGE PLUS if they have a supportive or well connected family. Even then, once a person is an adult, you can’t be “saved” from everything.

partially true but being bipolar is much more then high and lows it's micro managing every aspect of your life so you don't accidentally induce some type of mixed ep or etc it's extremely exhausting ppl that manage without meds usually follow a very strict routine and even then there's always some part of their disorder they still won't be able to properly manage

I love how neurotypical people only praise bipolar disorder and ADHD because they don’t have to deal with the constant struggle every day. In not bipolar but I have severe ADHD and acting like a regular human takes SO much effort and can get extremely frustrating.
