If you do not go to church, does that really mean you cannot worship God? The truth of the Bible can lift that burden from your heart. If there is a Sunday when you cannot go to church, does that mean God is no longer pleased with you? Do not let a door you were unable to walk through become the reason you stop drawing near to God. The Bible shows us three different situations, and in the third one, Jesus Himself gives us the answer. First: Daniel still worshipped God in a time of danger. There was already an order to have him arrested, but he still opened his window and knelt down to pray as usual. There was no temple, and no crowd gathered around him, but his heart still belonged to God. Second: Paul and Silas still worshipped God in prison. They had been beaten, and their feet were locked in stocks, yet at midnight they prayed and sang praises to God. There was no pulpit, no music, and no choir. But they still worshipped. True worship has never depended on a place or a situation. Third: Jesus Himself told us that worship is not limited to one place. The Samaritan woman asked Jesus where people should worship God. Jesus said: “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.” John 4:24, KJV So God is not only looking at this: “Were you sitting in church today?” He is looking even more deeply at this: “Does your heart truly belong to Me?” When you thank God while cooking in the kitchen, when you pray to Him while exhausted from work, when you cry out to Him through tears late at night, all of these can become acts of worship. Of course, gathering together with brothers and sisters is still very important. Church is a place where we encourage one another, learn the truth, and grow together in Christ. But do not think that God will stop hearing your prayers simply because you could not go to church one day. True worship is not only about walking into a building. It is about keeping your heart turned towards God. If you are willing to worship God wherever you are, write: “Lord, today I give You my heart.” And share this with someone who has been carrying guilt because they could not go to church.
