the invisibility cloak + map.. Severus literally could not escape them. Genuienly lived through a horror movie. the fact people glorify the maurauders and still frame James as some good guy and Severus as a jealous villain is astonishing. not to mention James practically harassed Lily to date him until she said yes. unlike James, severus knows that no means no.

Snape clearly didn't (unlike Sirius was telling Harry) This suggests that Snape only used it when he was in dire situations and needed to defend himself, SO IF JAMES HADNT BEEN ATTACKING HIM HE WOULDN'T EVER BE IN DANGER IN THE FIRST PLACE

the issue is in classism. marauder fans want them to appear as the flawless good guys and snape’s existence is a clear contradiction to that. they cant comprehend the fact that characters can be good AND evil. if snape wasn’t “ugly” and poor, people would have babied his character as this poor little victim of marauders and he’d be the “hot mean professor.” it just sickens me to see people slander snape without delving into his character any further, he for sure is not a saint but baseless insults are incredibly stupid.
