You need to do it everyday, give her 10-20 minutes to adjust. My cat now screams at me for walks, but she chooses where we go. My adult cat is interested in walks, she's gotten used to the harness and it takes more time for her to learn the outside

I know at least for my cat that goes outdoors, they don't really walk a lot. They just like watching things. I don't think that's anything wrong with your cat. As long as they are not getting scared, then it is fine.

Start by letting your cat get familiar with the harness indoors before you ever clip on the leash. Lay it near her food bowl or favorite napping spot for a day or two so she can sniff it and realize it's not a threat. When she seems unbothered by its presence, try putting it on her for just a few minutes at a time pair this with treats, playtime, or her favorite wet food so she builds a positive association. Once she's comfortable wearing it around the house, attach the leash and let her drag it behind her under supervision for short sessions. This lets her get used to the feeling of something trailing her without you tugging or directing her.After a few successful indoor sessions (5–10 minutes each), move to a low-distraction outdoor space a quiet backyard, a balcony, or even just your building's hallway. The goal here isn't to walk anywhere; it's to let her explore at her own pace while you follow. Keep the leash loose and let her lead. If she freezes or tries to back out of the harness, don't pull just stop, crouch down, and wait her out with a calm voice and a treat nearby.
