Here’s what Nico’s brother Iñaki Williams said about it: “They got into a truck, with 40 people crammed inside. Then they continued on foot, including a huge journey across the Sahara. People were falling on the road, and they were buried there. It was dangerous: thieves everywhere, violence, suffering. Some people were tricked: they paid drivers passing by, and the drivers dropped them in the middle of nowhere and said, ‘That’s it, the end.’ People were left with nothing: no water, no food. There were children, elderly people, women. Our parents were tricked too, but they made it to Melilla, climbed over the wall — and were immediately arrested.
