@_attunement: Let me be clear here. I am not advocating a complete abdication of your personal responsibility. I don't think anyone is helped when people say, "Welp, the environment sucks, which is why I suck, there's nothing I can do about it. I guess I'll watch Netflix." We are looking for the sweet spot where you can feel the enormity of your environmental failures. Where you can tell the truth about how hurt you are by the things that weren't/aren't there for you. You grieve the loss of the community. You grieve the incapabilities of your caregivers. You grieve the modern dependence on medications, black mirrors, and the superficial. And once you look that in the face and feel the depth of that pain, you give yourself permission to stop making it about you. You drop the sbOS. And then you get to work. You tell the truth. You share your story. You nurture your soil in a way that celebrates your bigness and capacity. You drop the sbOS tendency to believe that being small and out of the way is safe.
