There are emotional reasons to get married. There are legal reasons to get married. There are financial reasons to get married. There’s only one reason to not get married. That you don’t believe that you’re going to be with the person for the rest of your life. So I think he’s made his position clear.

if you're not married and your partner gets in an accident and needs someone to make medical decisions if you dont have a medical proxy paperwork set up then it goes to next of kin which can be parents and they can kick you out of the hospital and forbid you from seeing your partner no matter how long yall were/are together

I don’t understand how people grew up watching the fight for the right to gay marriage and not understand what it means. Marriage is a legal protection to choose your family. In the right circumstance, marriage is safety. It’s a legal protection and it’s a medical choice.

my sister bf did the same thing (7 years). at 3 year mark she sat down to have the talk and they seemed on the same page...to get married in the future. he even had her wasting her time looking for a rings for almost 2 years! to eventually says they he wants to have children but not get married, what?!?!! she left him!

it's probably not that he doesn't understand the concept of marriage, he just doesn't see you as his wife. it's not against you and I'm sure you're a great person but you're not his person. don't put up with that and yes cut your losses. it could also be he doesn't see the point if you're just going to stay in the relationship so if you leave he might change his mind, either way I'd leave.

I mean 3 years together they finally move in at their age? He never wanted to marry her to begin with, but he wanted to date her and assumed eventually she would not ask about dating. I’ve been with my man for six months and we’ve already talked about getting a place and getting married. He never was going to marry her. He just wanted to waste her time.

Don't crucify me for this but I do get his words. He's definitely just stringing her on but I don't get the point of getting married outside of the tax benefits. I am fully committed to my fiance and we are getting married in 3 months. I want to be with her for the rest of my life but I wouldn't be mad if we didn't get a mairrage certificate for the government
