There’s the royal family/nobles who are mostly all light skinned. The character everyone is mad about being played by Amandla is the princess and is a little darker than her family, so she gets treated as inferior by them for it. However, compared to the main protagonist/hero characters who are all dark skinned, that princess character is lighter. I personally think Amandla’s casting is fine. Damson Idris and Cynthia Erivo’s characters should actually be light skinned, but folks don’t seem to be bothered about their casting because they’re both Nigerian at least.
