After signing to Lil Durk's Only The Family (OTF) label, King Von quickly rose to prominence with songs such as Crazy Story, Took Her to the O, Why He Told, and Armed & Dangerous. His ability to narrate detailed stories through his music earned him a reputation as one of drill's best storytellers and helped him build a large fanbase in just a few years. Before becoming a rapper, Von spent years navigating Chicago's criminal justice system, including being acquitted in a high-profile murder case after spending several years in jail awaiting trial. Those experiences, along with his upbringing in Chicago's South Side, heavily influenced his music and public image. On November 6, 2020, King Von was fatally shot outside an Atlanta nightclub following an altercation involving two groups. He was 26 years old. His death shocked the hip-hop community, and his posthumous albums and continued influence have cemented his legacy as one of the defining voices of the Chicago drill movement.
