Maybe easier to find correct answer is to consider why all countries around Russia seek NATO membership?😏. Maybe something is NOK with Russia ( invasion of Poland 1920 and 1939 allied with Hitler, Finland 1940, Baltic states 1940, Hungary 1956, Czechoslovakia 1968, Afghanistan 1979, Georgia 2008, Ukraine 2014 and 2022...). Only reason for growth of NATO is russian imperial attitude againt it's neighbours.

genuinely asking these questions. why doesn't russia want anyone joining NATO? and why do they want their neighbors to not join NATO? if the answer is Russia fears that NATO will use its neighbors to threaten and attack Russia, then why do they feel like that? I am not trying to be condescending or rhetorical. these past few weeks I have gotten really into russian culture, mainly trying to learn the language. other than that I don't REALLY know what's going on other than the propaganda news that I see from the opposing side.

So, NATO can have military bases, and a nuclear rocket base on their borders, in the name of " PEACE KEEPING ", but when Russia tried that in the 60's during the Cuba missile crisis, this almost lead to a nuclear war? Right? Got it......!

maybe if Russia wasn't extremely antagonistic to it's neighbors then they wouldn't feel the need to pursue partnerships with NATO. NATO does not actively recruit member states, it's the countries that have to apply to get in.

The whole reason countries keep joining nato is because of Russian aggression. Sweden and Finland didn’t join just for the hell of it. They joined because Russia is a threat.

Have you ever looked at a map? There is no ring of NATO military bases around Russia. There is not even a ring of land around Russia.
