@deeperarchive: This fly was never truly considered alive. The company Eon Systems have taken a real fly's connectome (The wiring diagram of its brain) and then fully simulated it. This fly was dropped into a virtual body. It started walking, Grooming, Feeding and doing what flies do. There was no training data, no fly-like behavior. It’s not Al and is the opposite of how Al actually works. They rebuilt the insects mind from the inside out, neuron by neuron. What I mean is, I don't think there's such a thing as "free will" at all; at most, there can only be "autonomous will."Because we are also animals, and although we have developed a will that is self-aware today from the instincts of the past that come from evolution, we have not escaped evolutionary spurts. This is because evolution develops cumulatively.As I said, I believe only a very small minority of society possesses "free will" because they don't yet have the biological foundation and capacity for it.
