@saskia.stallings: #creatorsearchinsights The World Health Organization defines burnout as an occupational phenomenon related to chronic workplace stress that hasn't been successfully managed. But every day I meet women whose exhaustion didn't start at work. It came from caregiving. Parenting. Holding families together. Chronic stress. Years of carrying more than one person was ever meant to carry. I think it's time we broaden the conversation. ๐ What are your thoughts? Do you think burnout can exist outside the workplace? #BurnoutRecovery #WomensMentalHealth #ChronicStress #Burnout
100%. All of the videos about burnout refer to work-related stress, as does the GP. Is work stressful? Definitely. But the things that burnt me out was work on top of caring for 2 SEN kids, managing school transitions and appeals, sudden eviction, finding a house, moving house, navigating my own diagnosis and health needs, medication and titration, surgery, keeping on top of the housework and god forbid any kind of self care. Work alone probably wouldnt have burnt me out but combine it with everything else? Trenches.
