This happened to me at the TJ Maxx in Wilmington. However, I started yelling at the man to stop following me and caused a scene which forced him to leave. Be careful out there ladies!

I used to work at the old navy right there and yeah, sketchy shit happened all the time but please know, you can always run to old navy for safety. Ik someone at Ross helped you but I just want everyone in the area to know there are very good ppl working at old navy and they will stop everything to help you. The security guy at the front will take care of you immediately and he takes safety very seriously.

Due to the proximity to uncw I don’t think a lot of people are aware of how unsafe this shopping center and across college (tjmaxx and home goods area) really are. Spread the word! There’s been numerous incidences of females being followed in these locations

Okay- 1. Firmly say no. He was trying to determine if you would be an easy target and surprise- you showed him you were. Next time firmly say “no” and ask him to leave you alone. 2. If something like this happens again ask a worker to walk you to your car and tell them you think you’re being followed. They have protocol for this.

This happened to my mom. She was at the food lion near Laney high school. Some random guy kept walking up to her and following her. She asked what he wanted and he said if she knew what love is. She ignored him and walked away. He kept following her. Not sure what happened with the guy but she got home safely.

OMG this happened to me as well in Burlington here in Wilmington.!! WTF!!! The only difference I had my 5 year old grandson. Three guys and one lady!!!! At first I thought it was my imagination. I started going to different dept and they were there. When I saw the lady with them I let my guard down. One guy continued to follow. I then reversed it and started following the guy that was following me. I was angry at that point and wanted them to know I knew and hopefully they would leave store. He got on his cell called someone and another guy came around and gave me a dirty look. I realized both men were looking at my grandson. I then got scared and asked employee to walk us out to car. I went back and spoke to manager the next day and was told they had called police on a guy earlier, same situation, but police could not do anything because the guy said he was just shopping. The scariest part is when I left out of the store with employee the lady with them was standing right at the exit. Just standing. I realized they were looking at my grandson. I’m so glad you shared this!!!!!! I didn’t think to share it but people need to beware!!!!!! I was told that they use women for child trafficking and usually people let their guard down. Thank you so much for sharing!! So glad you are ok. PLEASE BE CAREFUL LADIES!! Please DO NOT LET YOUR KIDS RUN AROUND IN STORES BY THEMSELVES!!!!!

Def wouldn’t have sniffed anything and def would not have gone back and forth in line like that..gave him too many chances. I know it’s easier said than done, but I’d just go to an employee or call the police next time to prevent this from happening to someone else too…if you aren’t comfortable with yelling or causing a scene. Stay safe!

There was a man following me for 30 minutes at the Harris Teeter near UNCW last weekend! He approached me multiple times, followed me to the checkout, I left the checkout because he was creeping me out and I had a bad feeling and he also followed me away from the checkout. I called my husband who was thankfully only a few minutes away and as soon as he saw me with him he left, but definitely a reminder to fuck politeness and carry your pepper spray! Glad you’re ok, stay aware of your surroundings and trust your gut!
