He grew up in a distinguished religious and scholarly family and devoted himself from an early age to the study of Islamic sciences. He pursued advanced religious education in the Hawza of Najaf, studying jurisprudence, principles of Islamic law, Quranic interpretation, and Arabic literature. Alongside his religious studies, he earned a master's degree from University of Baghdad and later obtained a doctorate from Cairo University, combining traditional Islamic scholarship with modern academic education. Sheikh Ahmed Al-Waeli dedicated his life to spreading Islamic knowledge and promoting the teachings of Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them). Over several decades, he delivered thousands of lectures covering religion, history, ethics, literature, and social issues. His unique ability to blend religious evidence, intellectual analysis, and eloquent language earned him the title “Dean of the Hussaini Pulpit.” Due to political circumstances, he left Iraq in the late 1970s and spent many years abroad, continuing his educational and religious mission without interruption. His lectures reached audiences across the Islamic world and influenced generations of students, scholars, and believers. Sheikh Ahmed Al-Waeli passed away on July 14, 2003, at the age of 75. He was laid to rest in Najaf, leaving behind a remarkable legacy of lectures, writings, and intellectual contributions that continue to inspire millions today. He is widely remembered for emphasizing moral values, intellectual awareness, and the pursuit of excellence, teaching that true greatness is measured not by wealth or outward appearance, but by one's principles, character, and actions.
