Tyler Robinson's roommate and romantic partner twice spoke to police after Charlie Kirk was shot and killed at Utah Valley University last year, and prosecutors will video recordings of the interviews as evidence against Robinson. Attorneys discussed with Judge Tony F. Graf Jr. the admissibility and redactability of Lance Twiggs' interviews today (Wednesday, July 8) during the third day of Robinson's preliminary hearing. Prosecutor Lauren Hunt, a deputy attorney in Utah County, questioned Agent Brian Davis of the Utah State Bureau of Investigation about Twiggs' interviews first. Judge Graf said certain portions will not be played audibly on the courtroom or on the live stream. The interview will be shown in court when the hearing resumes tomorrow (Thursday, July 9) at 9 a.m. CST in Utah's 4th Judicial District in Provo. Twiggs was granted "use immunity" for his statements, which Davis said "is essentially giving the individual ... immunity from statements that are made in regard to an incident, but it does not preclude them from prosecution from evidence that would be known or found then or later outside of that interview." "Okay. So for any statements made during the interview, they're given immunity for that, but they're not generally prohibited from being potentially prosecuted outside of that interview. Is that fair?" Hunt asked. "That's my understanding, yes," Davis answered. Davis described Twiggs as "a roommate of Tyler Robinson. "Nothing has been said in testimony about Twiggs' or Robinson's gender or sexuality, but Twiggs is transitioning from male to female and prosecutors allege Robinson targeted Kirk because Kirk's views on transgenderism conflicted with their views. Twiggs spoke to police twice: early on Sept. 12 at the St. George Police Department, then again on April 20 at the Utah County Attorney's Office in Provo, less than three months before Robinson's preliminary hearing began on Monday. You can watch all testimony unedited on my YouTube channel or Facebook page. You also can watch the proceedings live when court is in session. #law #court #crime
