people would disagree with this because dean has a lot of fans in the general audience but in the fandom he really is misunderstood. from so many sides. a lot of people in the FANDOM see him as a one dimensional character and read and judge him according to their preferred version of him, be it negatively or otherwise positively, so yes it takes a soul to understand him.

Hot take: I feel like he’s mostly just a fan favorite because of his looks. Not because of the deepness and complexity of his character. So yes, it takes a soul to TRUELY understand Dean.

I rewatched recently and I loved seeing him learn to cry more as series goes on, he spends the first seasons being very "ive got this sammy" about things but as time goes on we get moments with him where he lets himself really feel things and i love that sm for him ;-;

I think it takes a soul to understand both of them. Sam in the earlier seasons may be easier to understand but as it goes on I see a lot of hate for him. Dean is my fav but Sam is great too

Dean’s identity was built on sacrifice and parentification. From the time he was a kid, he was forced into the role of a parent instead of being allowed to just be a child. Because of that, he based his entire self-worth on taking care of everyone else and never really got the chance to figure out who he was outside of that…💔💔
