@saterise: This was my very first drawing for One Piece and when I first fell in love with Ace’s character. Along with his special bond with Luffy and Sabo. It’s a very precious and dear friendship and I just so desperately wanted to capture the longing to see him again, to see them all united again. The bitter reminders that creep in throughout the rest of the show after Marineford is so real. I wanted to show a happy memory between the three of them, vibrant and warm with that nostalgia of a beloved childhood memory. The people a bit hazy and darker, a little harder to make out, but so real in your minds eye. TLDR I love ASL so much and this was my first of many drawings of them lmao. I like the detail of the clouds and birds being exactly the same, something people say a lot about grief is how crazy it is that the world keeps going, I like how it shows that for ace it hasn’t. and also how they’re still those kids, they’ll always have that memory.
