After the election: States certified their results. Dozens of lawsuits challenging the outcome were filed; the vast majority were dismissed or rejected for lack of evidence or legal merit. State election officials from both parties, federal agencies, and subsequent audits and recounts in key states did not find evidence of fraud on a scale that would have changed the election outcome. On January 6–7, 2021, Congress certified the Electoral College vote, and Joe Biden was inaugurated as president on January 20, 2021.
