@nettlesandpetals: Seeds to Sow in July 🌱 Don’t give in to the July sowing slump, this is such an important month for sowings to ensure the vegetable garden stays full into the latter part of the year, and into next. 😊👍🥗 So, first would be to sow the winter brassicas and greens such as cabbages, cauliflowers, kale, kohlrabi pak choi and chard. If sown now and planted over the next month, they will keep the garden productive until into next spring. I like to plant my chard under my tomatoes too, which will replace them once finished. 🥦 Next would be roots such as beetroot and turnips. I multi sow mine in clump of 4 and harvest right through autumn and winter. I start sowing crops of quick growing pea varieties again too, usually into gutters to reduce transplant shock so they produce sooner. 🫛 Early July is the last chance to sow dwarf French beans and runner beans for a late autumn crop if you haven’t already. 🫘 I keep sowing lots of leafy aromatic herbs that such as parsley, coriander, dill and chervil, usually directly in the growing beds. As well as summer lettuce, along with spring onions to plant in between them and any other gaps that emerge around the garden. 🌿 And July is also the best month to sow biennials flowers so they establish strong roots and foliage before winter, such as foxgloves, sweet William, honesty, and forget-me-nots. 🌸 So what will you be sowing this month? 😊 #gardeningtips #growyourownfood #vegetablegarden
