@ntforge: this video features a knife I forged and ground this morning from an adjustable wrench. I've been away from the workshop a lot so far this month, so I'm falling a bit behind where I'd like to be. This video jumps in after the forging is done to highlight the grinding, hardening, and sharpening steps of the knifemaking process. The main work in this video is done with a 2HP 2X72 belt sander. The profile is ground in with a 36 grit ceramic belt that's already been filled through use on other knives. I highlighted the point in this video where I switched to a fresh 36 grit belt to grind the face of the blade. after quenching the blade in vegetable oil and tempering in a regular oven, the knife blade has a hardness in the mid 50s HRC. the blade gets finished with a 120grit ceramic belt and a non-woven "Scotch-brite" belt. The makers mark you can see my etching into the metal is done through electrolysis with a saltwater solution and a 12v DC current. #knives #knifemaking #sanding #forged #foryoupage
