In Nausicca scene they're clearly pulling from Cretean Minoan art. The curls on their paintings look just like that and they often are showing off their torsos!

one of the men in Itaca Is wearing a vest with the design of an VIII century geometry vase and I think that alone is better than any costume Nolan provided

Any movie the actors so obviously had fun instantly makes the movie more entertaining. Heck, same is true for stage productions. Was the children's production I saw a while back award worthy? Nah. But the kids loved the show and clearly had a lot of fun performing, which spilled over to the audience so we all left smiling and laughing.

It’s a great movie. I saw it first time on TV with my parents who like Kirk Douglas. Then I saw it recently it was great. Kirk Douglas also played Spartacus in the 1960 movie.
