The only other character who I have ever seen or remember being baygirled that was a poc is gustavo fring. This is such an interesting thing to think about and I have never even thought about it in this way. I would like to see more non-white characters fit this description in the future

and I believe we need to continue to give black characters a huge spotlight like this as morally grey characters. I havent watched the backrooms yet but from what ive seen hes a WONDERFUL and realistic character for this movie!!

Ngl this conversation makes me remember when Sinners was released and more attention and babygirl-ification treatment was given to Remmick, compared to the rest of the cast which was mainly non-white and just as, if not more, memorable as Remmick.

Yes!!! And I’ve also seen takes about his anger coming from his treatment as a black man. How his failure to be an architect was because it was primarily a white dominated field especially in the 90s. And him feeling isolated because he was surrounded with white people (who while generally nice, were overlooking the trauma he suffered as a poc)(as much as I love Mary she is not innocent in this being his therapist and not delving into that

it irks me so bad when people reprimand ppl who babygirlify clark saying shit like "he's an abuser btw" and then they'll go and babygirlify white/non-black characters that are even worse. genuinely so fucking weird
