this happened to me last year on the freeway turns out my oil line rusted and leaked into my coolant line and fried the engine on the freeway halfway to my parents house (a two hour drive)

I’ve had this happen to me twice, in two very different cars, and both times it was the crankshaft position sensor. One car was about 75 buckeroos to replace, the other like 280.

you can go to any auto zone and ask yhem to run a diagnostic to see what error codes youre getting

Could be a few things, start with battery.. alternator.. could also be a computer issue. Good that you were able to get out of the road safely.
