What could they have done differently to deescalate the shuttle?

Penn employees have to pay $350 to park AT WORK per month! And it just went up 6% because they added car charging stations….

My big question is will this count as a work injury with workman’s comp? I bet they don’t clocked in before hopping in the shuttle.

As a Penn patient, the problem is that there is barely enough parking for patients on site that I’m not sure how both employees and patients would be able to park on site.

I’m sorry, I would never, no matter how broke, work at a hospital that I had to pay to park.

The parking is way too far from the hospital. It adds an extra 20 minutes to my commute and that’s hoping there’s no traffic on Christopher Columbus blvd. It costs over $100 a month to park there for such a big inconvenience. Sometimes the shuttle isn’t even there on time. I left from being full time to per diem and that was one of the biggest reasons why.

They were Pennsylvania Hospital employees under UPHS. Unfortunately, remote parking HAS to be done because PAH is in Center City & city parking is limited. The 2 parking decks across the street from the hospital are mainly used for patients (during the day), since patients come first😉 Also, drs get priveleged parking in those 2 parking decks (that’s another bag of worms😂).

Don’t worry— admin made sure those nurses were all in a leave status as soon as they heard the news. Lol.

it’s pennsylvania hospital. last year a shuttle hit a pedestrian and killed them. we have to get there at 6:30 to avoid being late. we had many nurses in progressive steps for being 1-2 mins later due to the shuttle. also, 90% of the shuttle don’t have seatbelts. many of the nurses and techs had head injuries and bodily injuries requiring surgery. a nurse on my floor was initially critical in the field & one of my best friends found the overturned shuttle on her way to the lot. she jumped in and was helping people before EMS arrived.

I work at Penn Chester County Hospital and parking is free and on site. Cities everywhere are a mess so I wouldn’t work at a city hospital anyway that’s why I work at the Penn facility I do work at as we don’t have to worry about parking.

You know it’s one thing if you work an eight hour shift and you gotta find parking OK that’s no big deal but some nurses are working 12 1/2 hours and maybe even an hour of transportation so yes, the hospital should have on property parking
