@magdalena_layla: One of the main reasons I’m boycotting the 2026 FIFA World Cup is that it’s being held in a country where few people care about it and where they still call football “soccer.” What kind of country it is and what it does are other reasons on the list. As for how much it costs to get to that country for the World Cup and whether you’ll even be allowed in—well, that’s really beneath the level of discussion. But I'm rooting wholeheartedly for France and Spain, because my heart stays in Europe. I’m sorry, but when it comes to this event—the Americans really get on my nerves. And yes, Argentina is also American. I wish these very wealthy people—because only they can afford it—a very un-American final. And I’d like to thank FIFA for “equality, fair play, and loyalty to the fans.” 🎬 Hooligans (2005) #worldcup #fifa #american #Soccer #itsfootballnotsoccer
By the way: Americans’ awareness of the fact that it’s the employer who provides people with a decent wage is practically nonexistent. Tips are optional, not because we in Europe don’t like the service, but because supporting employees is the employer’s responsibility. You can add a 15% or 20% service charge to the bill, as restaurants do, and that settles it. I don’t get it. In the U.S., if you don’t get a tip, does that mean there’s no service? No smile? No kindness? Do you spit in people’s food, or do you not serve them at all? Because in that case, I don’t know what an employee’s responsibility is or why you’re doing this job. At similar events in Europe—the mere fact that they take place means higher earnings, because so many customers show up and there’s so much overtime. And employers pay more, or add tips to the bills. That’s where we differ. So think twice about your own responsibility and that of your employer, as well as your work ethic—of which there’s not much—before you post another video about how people in Europe don’t leave tips.

And I also think that maybe it’s because in the States you can get anything and it won’t even bat an eye. You’ll mix carbonara with ham and mushrooms, add whatever you want to pasta or pizza. That wouldn’t fly in Europe. If you tried to do that in Italy, a chef would come out and personally slap you in the face. Respect, ladies and gentlemen, and an understanding of the culture—which includes its cuisine—is essential.
