🚨Handling making a “big” mistake👇 Making a mistake at work or something not going as you hoped is a horrible feeling. It can trigger intense feelings of self-doubt and even shame. For some people this can lead to shrinking, over-apologising and playing small. All of these behaviours signal a lack of competence. We all make mistakes sometimes or experience situations that don’t go as we would like. The important thing is to try and adopt a growth mindset. This means acknowledging our mistake, taking accountability and looking for a way to learn so we can avoid something similar happening again. This might mean having a debrief with your team and objectively examining what adjustments might need to be made. This could sound like: “I am going to set up a meeting next week with you and the wider team to explore what adjustments need to be made going forward to ensure we avoid this happening again” I would also recommend proactively asking for feedback not to further berate yourself but to help you grow. We are all a work in progress 🩷 💌 Every Wednesday I send FREE advice for handling tricky work scenarios to 44K+ people in my email community. Comment BONUS if you’d like to join & I’ll DM you. 💬 Leave a 🙌 in the comments if this was helpful 👀 📌 Please remember the advice offered in this video is generalised and will not fit every situation. There are different ways this situation could be approached so please use your own judgement and adapt it as you see fit. 💾 Save this for when you might need it ✈️ Share with someone you think this could help 🚀 Follow for more tips on handling tricky people at work #worktips #leadershipdevelopment #corporatelife #emotionalintelligence #difficultconversations #communicationskills #assertivecommunication #conflictmanagement
