@manofmilesuk: British Airways Premium Plus Amex Card: The Biggest Change in Years The British Airways Premium Plus American Express Card is losing one of its biggest benefits. From 7 October 2026, the Avios earning rate is being reduced, meaning it will no longer be the highest earning UK credit card for Avios on everyday spending. In this video I explain exactly what’s changing, what it means for existing cardholders, whether the Companion Voucher still justifies the £300 annual fee, and whether cards like Barclaycard Avios Plus or American Express Gold now offer better value. If you collect Avios, travel with British Airways or are considering applying for the BA Premium Plus Card, this is a change you’ll want to know about. @British Airways @American Express @Avios #manofmiles #pointsandmiles #BritishAirways #Avios #AmexUK

Adam Liddell :
Why not just downgrade to the free BA card which also gives you a companion voucher, rather than paying the £300 premium card?

If it wasn’t for the companion voucher I wouldn’t continue …. BA know that’s the biggest perk but it’s a shitty way to treat their potential customers..

i have a platinum every day cashback amex, is it worth getting a barclaycard avios or a ba amex as a backup card.. leaning towards barclay coz it’s mastercard but would be interested to know your thoughts. my everyday cashback was my first proper cc!

I have the gold and they’re offing me 50k points of if I spend £6k in 3 months for platinum if I upgrade. Do you think it’s best I keep my gold

So is the HSBC world elite credit card a better option?

It’s still worth it for the Voucher and the 3,000 Tier Points.

I’ve recently switched anyway… BA is not a premium airline for long distance flying, I’ve had far better experiences with Virgin, Emirates and Qantas! BA have completely lost their way.

Sticking with it for the companion voucher. Means we can fly business long haul, game changer for us!

Do BA do any special deals throughout the year for flights? we will be flying from Glasgow to London Heathrow and the cost is over £1000 for business class, we need the luggage allowance for our following flight with Virgin. I'm hopeful BA have something like black Friday or winter sales coming up.

I switched to Barclaycard avios plus. I wanted to upgrade from BA amex blue to platinum, but they wouldn't give me the offer so I switched.

Avios recently had a boost of 40% when you bought or gifted Avios, my question is, does the 40% get paid on top of your purchase, or is it included in your purchase?

Just used companion voucher to jfk £120 return with 27500 avios . Thinks it was well worth having it . Already got another voucher

Did Amex just shoot itself in the foot by handing its crown to Baclaycard?

I’m not too upset. The avios lost is minimal and you can now (almost) earn BA Bronze with very little effort. And you still get the companion voucher which is worth circa 200k Avios to me.

I’m keeping and using Barclay card once my spend cap and reward voucher is achieved. The miles and points game gets tougher every day and finding seats can be a challenge

for me that voucher is so valuable that I'll probably stick with the card, as much as it stings

I spend a lot on the ba premium plus card. Now will possibly cap the spend at the top of the tier points perk and switch the extra spend to something else. Still got to explore where that limit comes in. Perhaps you could review. I spend about 100,000 a year the last few years.

Just sent them a message in chat telling them I’m not happy and require a retention offer. Was offered over 10000 for 3k spend in 6months which will well offset this change
