@kolainebeautylounge: Sebaceous cysts don’t always need surgery 👏 This lovely lady had previously had this cyst surgically removed, but unfortunately it had returned. She was initially seen by her prescribing nurse, who holds a Master’s in Dermatology, and was referred to me for treatment using advanced electrolysis. Using thermolysis, I carefully broke down the keratin plug (the build-up of sebum within the cyst), gently removed the contents and then sealed the opening using further electrolysis. The aim of treatment is to break down the lining of the cyst and seal the sebaceous gland to help reduce the chance of it returning. We have booked a review in six weeks to monitor healing, but this is a treatment I carry out regularly with fantastic results and, when appropriate, it can be an excellent alternative to surgery.
