This book is my main study over the last few years. The content of the death experience is very fascinating to me. It begins very practically explaining the body’s changes as your electricity is leaving, but then the sights and sounds appear and the descriptions are more abstract. They speak of the Buddhas of the 5 directions, and how the present themselves. I’ve been trying yo understand what these Buddhas and directions literally are, and they very well could be how they’re described with no nuance at all, but it sounds like what they represent symbolically is a more objective understanding of what you actually experience. One day I want someone to sit me down and walk me through it. It’s hard to wrap the mind around if it’s something you only experience if you study this system, or if anyone would experience these things as they go.

I understand your reading of the evolved interpretation but it's original form "The Bön Book of the Dead" or-dates Christianity as a loosely formed group of teaching it want until the 14th century that Tibetan Buddhists and Theraveda adopted and organized these teachings into the formal tibetan book of the Dead
