all those protective measures are very good I can attest to that but I assure you it won't offer a 100% protection when a powerful thunder storms!

I did my lightning arrestor. I never bother about switching off the circuit breaker. I always have my solar system on all the time when raining.

My solar system is earthed but we do not have a thunder arrestor, but about 2 houses very close to mine has thunder arrestor, so the enginer that installed the solar system for me said I don't need thunder arrestor that those two around me covers me, please how true is this?

very funny all those can't stop lightning from affecting your inverter even when is off. it all depends on the lightning voltage level.

For the aspect of using it when it’s raining you’re right, but living the breakers on especially AC breaker, I bet lightning will still crush it with surge protectors, AVR will help n putting of the breaker is advisable, unless testing and reading earthing system, the question is can everybody afford that? Well done sir but I think the advice is good for those that can’t afford the necessary things. Thanks and I stand to be corrected.

What I do is just disconnect my solar panels so the lighting can’t pass through the panels then go into the system….so that way, I can still use my system even if it’s raining…the solar panel will not be charging your system if you do that making the system safe for use …simple as abc …even without a thunder arrestor
