My grandpa made it out alive, currently passed May 10, 2026. He was traumatized, threw all of his medals and things away before I was born. No one won that war, it was a big whole mess of killing and traumatized people and more.

My grandpa served in the war, he passed a few months ago.. he NEVER talked about what he saw or experienced and when he tried he would just cry and say “we were just boys. They died boys” 😭

my grandpa was in vietnam and his dad died so he was granted a leave to go be at his funeral and the day he left his ENTIRE group was bombed and not a single one of his friends lived

My grandpa fought in Vietnam and his hearing was unreal. No one could ever sneak up on him or surprise him. But he could move without making a single sound. I used to think it was so cool, but I learned it was a survival skill from the war. He never got to relax his body was always listening for a threat.

My uncle was in Vietnam. He was so traumatized, my other uncle tried to wake him up from his couch nap to go to bed and he shot out of his sleep in a PTSD episode and ripped my uncles lip in half by hand. No one wins in war, my uncle may have survived Vietnam but his soul died out there.

the saddest part is most of those men didn’t even want to serve in that war and a lot of the general public didn’t agree with it that’s why they had to have a draft to force men to fight in it
